Thank you for writing to MSN Hotmail Technical Support. My name is Ritchie and you mentioned that you are unable to access your .....hotmail.com account because you are looped back to the sign in page after completing the "Match the Characters" challenge. I understand how important this is to you.  I will be assisting you with your concern.

MSN Hotmail has recently implemented the Human Interactive Proof (HIP). This enables us to verify that a person is using the account and not by an automated program that is designed to send large amount of mail. You will be asked to type randomly generated text when you sign in to your account through the Hotmail Website. This is a precaution that will help prevent malicious users from using programs to automatically send junk e-mail through Hotmail. This will also help in protecting MSN Hotmail users from receiving such messages.

After typing the correct characters, you should be able to access your account. However, if the issue persists, please follow the steps that I have provided below:

A. Optimize Microsoft Internet Explorer, and then reset your default browser settings.

Note: If you are using a browser other than Internet Explorer, see the Help files for that program, or contact the manufacturer for steps to optimize your Internet browser.

   1. Start Internet Explorer.

   2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

   3. Click the General tab, click Delete Cookies, and then click OK.

   4. On the General tab, make sure that the Delete all offline content check box is selected, click Delete Files, and then click OK. Depending on the number of files that you have in this folder, it may take several minutes to finish.

   5. Click the Advanced tab, and then click the Restore Defaults button that is just above the Apply button at the bottom of the dialog box.

   6. Adjust your Internet security settings:

      a. Click the Security tab, and then click the Trusted Sites icon.

      b. Click the Sites button, and then clear the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone check box.

      c. In the Add this Web site to the zone box, type *.hotmail.com, and then press the Add button. Do the same for *.passport.com, *.live.com and *.msn.com, and then click OK.

You will know that you successfully added the sites because you will see the sites in the Web sites box. If you receive a "Trusted sites" error message, verify the spelling of your entry.

      d. On the Security tab, click the Default Level button to make sure that the security settings for Trusted Sites are set to the default level. Repeat these steps for the Internet zone and the Restricted sites zone.

   7. Adjust your Internet privacy settings

Note: If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or an earlier version, the following options will not be available to you.

      a. Click the Privacy tab, and then click the Sites button.

      b. In the Address of Web site box, type hotmail.com, and then click Allow.

      c. Repeat step b for passport.com, live.com and for msn.com. You will know that you successfully added the sites because you will see the sites in the Managed Web sites box. Click OK.

      d. On the Privacy tab, click the Default button to make sure that the privacy settings are set to the default level.

B. Use the audio version of the HIP challenge.

   1. Click the speaker symbol that is next to the scrambled HIP challenge picture. A pop-up window that contains a new text box will appear.

   2. Listen to the characters as they are read, and then type the characters that you hear in the new text box.

   3. Submit the HIP challenge.

Note: If you have an Internet pop-up blocker, you may have to turn it off temporarily if the pop-up window that contains the new text box does not appear when you click the button to hear the audio HIP challenge.

   4. If you are running any firewall software, pop-up blocking software, or antivirus software, we suggest that you add the following domains to the safe list of your respective Internet filtering software:

      - hotmail.com

      - msn.com

      - passport.com

If you are not sure how to do this, contact the manufacturer of the Internet filtering software that you are using for detailed instructions. If you are using the Microsoft Windows Internet Connection Firewall, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;875356

As one of our valued customers, we are glad to give you consistent and effective service. Thank you for using MSN Hotmail.

Sincerely,

Ritchie S.

merhaba arkadaşlar.sonunda şimdilik bir problemim yok.e postalarımı açabiliyorum.ve burdan türkiyeye sesleniyorum.çünkü sanırım ilk defa ben yaşıyorum bu olayı. araştırmalarım sonucunda bu yargıya vardım.eğer sizdede böle bir sorun olursa ekrana gelen karakterleri girmeyin.yanındaki sesli dinleme kısmına tıklayıp sonucu görün. görün diyorum çünki sesli okunan karakterler ekrandakiyla alakasız.hiç karakter yok sadece sayılardan oluşuyor.hatta okadar ilginçki sekiz karakter olması gerekirken 10 rakam söleniyor.bende sesli okunan bu rakamları girerek mailime ulaşabildim sonunda. ilginiz için teşekkürler.umarım yazım faydalı olmuştur.Allah kimseye böle bişiy yaşatmasın.
